Online Casinos Got Banned In America?

For those people living in the USA, who enjoyed the odd gambling night from the comfort of their own living room, the luxury will be available no longer. For a few years now, online casinos in the USA have had to shut their doors, and for those registered in other parts of the world - they have had to permanently refuse American citizens from joining their casino sites. This all stemmed from the Bush Administration’s view on the societal effects of online gambling in our communities. As with anything online, the prospect of earning or winning a few quick dollars from casinos attracted many players from different states - and more often than not left them worse off financially than when they started.

This begs the question - was the ban necessary or warranted? Many critics of online casinos will say that the government did the right thing at the right time. Indeed, the number of online casinos attempting to gain and lure new clients in the USA was growing at an astronomical pace when the ban was eventually enacted. Perhaps this shows that if the trend was left to continue, the financial situation of many Americans would be even worse than it currently is with the credit crisis.

But despite this, you really have to ask - has the ban worked? In other words, has it actually brought about any good in the communities, or any change in the attitudes of people towards gambling? This in itself is a difficult thing to measure, but overall I would say that it has just diverted attention elsewhere, and not actually changed any fundamental attitudes. Perhaps this is why the abundance of online casinos can still be seen - offshore.
